Metals We Use

Sterling Silver

Sterling Silver is 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% of alloy, typically copper, and is more durable than pure silver.

Oxidised Sterling Silver

A piece of blackened or oxidized silver is true sterling silver, but its surface has been intentionally darkened by introducing it to a chemical process.

Silver-filled

Silver-filled items contain 1/10th sterling silver by weight. As with gold fill, the sterling silver layer is hundreds of times thicker than a silver plating. The silver is bonded to the core metal and does not flake off the way a plating might.

Gold-filled

Gold-filled jewellery has a much higher amount of gold in it than gold-plated and is much more valuable. This is a durable material that will not tarnish or chip. It is also safe for those with metal allergies. Gold-filled, or gold overlay, is made by heat-and pressure-bonding an actual layer of karat gold, (not just a microscopic film) to a base metalcore. It is legally required to contain 1/20 gold by weight. Ideal for heirloom pieces as it is as durable as Karat gold.

Gold plated

Gold plated jewelry is jewelry made of a base metal (e.g. copper) or silver that has a very thin layer of Karat gold applied to the top.
